Tuesday, April 05, 2011 - Fergus Falls Flyers registration for 2011 Summer and Pre Season

Fergus Falls Flyers registration for 2011 Summer and Pre Season will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 12th and 13th, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, at the Kennedy Secondary School Commons (please use the entry off Friberg).

Registration and health information forms that need to be completed are available on the swim website at www:fergusfallsswimming.org. You can print a copy and have them completed when you come to registration or mail them to: FF Flyers, PO Box 236, Fergus Falls, MN 56538.

Swim suits, caps and goggles will be available for purchase both registration days.

FF Flyers swim at the KSS Pool and the Head Coach is Tom Uvaas. Pre Season Instruction and Training dates are May 2nd - May 26th and the Summer Season runs from May 31st to July 15th, with an extended season for those who are still competing at meets.

In order to join the swim team, you must be able to swim one length (25 yards) of the pool comfortably without stopping. All new FFF swimmers are required to swim for the coach before the season begins in order to be placed in the correct practice times. Friday, November 19, 2010 - Winter FF Flyers UPDATE

It is almost time for the Winter FF Flyers Swim Season to start! Please read reminders and updates below.

1. Orientation/Parent Meetings are Monday 11/22 and Tuesday 11/23, from 4:30 to 5:30pm. Those signed up for Monday are: Maddie, Justin & Zach Boyd; Svea Smestad; Morgan Ackerson; Nycole Mouritsen; Alexis Palm; Berit Skogen; Lilly Stumbo; Allie Wahlgren; Luke Anderson; Nicholas Hohrman; Bradley Moore; Steven Wohlenhaus; Savana & Summer Kalenberg; Lena, Ingrid & Great Nycklemoe; Dan Anderson; Tommy Bowman and Myles Brennan. Those signed up for Tuesday are: Emma & Hattie Koeckeritz; Ethan Menge; Kara Anderson; Danielle & Justin Mortenson; Seth Edman; Jade Emery; Emilie Reard; Ryan Beck; Gabe Enderle; Aaron Erlandson and Luke Herbert. Either day or not sure: Ethan Ness; Ethan Rohde and Rachel Antrim.

2. If your child wants to swim but is not signed up (i.e. their name is not listed above), you need to do several things:

               A. Email Coach Hurley AND Jana Emery AND Sherri Money no later than Monday, 11/22;

               B. Complete the forms ASAP;

               C. Come to Orientation/Parent Meeting on either 11/22 or 11/23 with completed forms.

               D. ALL forms must be completed BEFORE your child gets in the pool – NO EXCEPTIONS!

3. Enter Kennedy Secondary School through the Activities door on 11/22 and 11/23. Several FF Flyers board members will be in the hallway to direct you to the pool.

4. Due to the large number of FF Flyers signed up and the expected number of Otter Boy Swimmers, ALL the FF Flyers will practice on Monday*, Tuesday* and Friday* with everyone starting at 3:30pm*. Some will swim 30 minutes, some 45 minutes and some for one hour. The length of practice will be determined on 11/22 and 11/23 by the coaches based on each swimmers swimming ability. The Otter Boys Junior High will practice from 3:45 to 4:45pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday so FF Flyers will be sharing the pool with them. Otter Boys High School will start at 4:30pm on the days the FF Flyers are in the pool which will allow each team to have more pool space.

*There are exceptions for several practice days/times over the Christmas Break and for two Otter Boys swim meets. Watch for communication from Coach Hurley for updates.

Thursday, November 04, 2010 - Winter Fergus Falls Flyers Registration

Registration for the 2010-2011 Winter Fergus Falls Flyers season will be on Monday November 8th and Tuesday, November  9th, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Enter Kennedy Secondary School (KSS) through the Activities Entrance to register your swimmer(s). Choose whichever day works best for you.

The only requirement to join is you must complete all forms (Athlete Registration and Health Information) and you must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) comfortably without stopping. Forms MUST be completed before swimmers can get in the water.

New this year:

1. FFF will be at the KSS Pool (formerly FF Middle School Pool) sharing with the Otter Boys Swimming and Diving Team;

2. ALL swimmers and at least one parent/guardian MUST attend one day of the Orientation/Parent Meeting for the whole hour 4:30-5:30pm (either Monday 11/22 or Tuesday 11/23);

3. Practice days and times are a little different so be on your toes for the correct days and times for your swimmers

  Hello!

We hope you are enjoying the remainder of your summer. It was nice to see everyone at the banquet and everyone had a great year. This year we gave out the most "Best Times" ribbons in many years. Great job to all of you who chose to compete in meets and had a great time doing so. If you have any questions on the criteria to achieve the different awards, they are indicated on the Flyers website in the dropdown category of "Parents" on the "Swimmer Award" page or you can talk with one of the board members. It is very much appreciated how patient everyone was this summer with a few bumps in the road with the construction. We were very fortunate we were able to use the pool and also to host meets there.

We would like to thank everyone for the successful coffee fundraiser. We raised almost $2000 from the coffee sales which is going towards the purchase of a Ultraviolet Light system for the pool at Kennedy Secondary School. We are only $3000 from the goal of $27,000, but we need to raise that $3000 by Friday, August 20 to get approval at the next school board meeting. If you know of someone or a group of people who may be willing to donate towards this project, please have them contact Richard Schara, at Richard.Schara@state.mn.us or Steve Mouritsen at Steve.Mouritsen@wellsfargo.com. This committee has been working very diligently to raise the funds toward this project, which will benefit those with asthma and eczema, as well as make it easier for everyone to breath easier whether they swim or are a spectator and it sanitizes the water to remove certain bacteria and fungi in the water that filtration systems cannot.

We would also like to thank those of you who participated in the "Pampered Chef" fundraiser with the proceeds going towards Coach Uvaas' lodging at the Jr. Nationals in which Mike (Donald) Hurley participated. They are having "great times". Mike had best times in all three of his events and finished 47th in the 100 Fly (56.96), 10th in the 100 Breast (1.05.11), and 18th in the 200 IM (2.08.14). These were multiple second time drops and there were well over 100 swimmers from the USA in every event. Great job to him and we wish them well on their way home.

Thank you to all of the swimmers and their families for a very fun and successful swim season.
