Summer Season End of the Year Awards
Minimize

Each FFF swimmer earns One award at the end of the year banquet, participant, best time, or outstanding swimmer.  All the awards are figures by the coach based on the meets and events swam during the current summer season and practice attendence.

Participant
Every swimmer who participants in practices and/or meets but does not have enough best times or points to earn the Best Time or Outstanding Swimmer Award, earns the PARTICIPANT AWARD. This is given because it is important to recognize the effort these swimmers have made throughout the summer season to participate when they could.

Best Time
BEST TIME AWARDS are earned by improving a time on the same stroke/distance OR by trying several different stokes and distances. The first time a swimmer swims a particular stroke/distance it is considered one “Best Time.” For each time improvement on that same stroke/distance, that is another “Best Time.” A medal will be awarded to each swimmer who achieves the following best times for his/her age group but does not have enough points for the Outstanding Swimmer Award:
8 & Under – 5 Best Times
9 & 19 – 6 Best Times
11 & 12 – 7 Best Times
13 & Over – 8 Best Times
Example #1: A 9-10 year old that swims the 50 Free, 50 Breast and 50 Back in a sanctioned meet already has 3 Best Times. If during the season he/she swims them each again and improves the time on each one, that’s 3 more Best Times. The total is 6 Best Times and he/she will receive the BEST TIME AWARD.
Example #2: A swimmer swims the 50 Free in five different sanctioned meets –
1st time is 1 Best Time, 2nd time is slower, 3rd time is faster than 1st meet (2nd Best Time), 4th time is faster than 3rd meet (3rd Best Time), 5th time is slower. That swimmer has 3 Best Times in that event.

Outstanding Swimmer
Swimmers will be awarded the OUTSTANDING SWIMMER TROPHY for reaching the following point totals:
8 & Under – 15 Points
9 & 10 – 20 Points
11 & 12 – 24 Points
13 & Over – 25 Points

Points are accumulated as follows:

1. Practice Attendance: Pre- season swim days count toward attendance points.
23+ Days =   5 Points
22 Days   =   4 Points
21 Days   =   3 Points
20 Days   =   2 Points
                     19 Days   =   1 Point

2. Meet Attendance: 5 Points are awarded if the swimmer competes in a minimum of 5 meets.

3. Time Points: The fastest time a swimmer achieves for each stroke/distance during the current summer season will be used to determine the time standard used for these points.
“B” Time = 2 Points
“A” Time = 3 Points
“Champ/Zone” Time = 4 Points
  1. If a swimmer changes age groups during the season, points earned in the younger age group are used for the purpose of counting total points.
*Example: A swimmer has an “A” time as a 9-10 in the 50 Back, but ages up during
the season and as an 11-12 year old it is a “B” time. The “A” time points of 3 will be
counted toward total points.

  1. A swimmer may only earn one point award for each stroke/distance.
*Example: If a swimmer swims a “B” time in the 50 Free in a yard pool and also in a
meter pool, only 2 points are awarded for the 50 Free. Also, if a swimmer swims a
“B” time in the 50 Back in five meets, only 2 points are awarded for the 50 Back.

4. Stroke Points: 2 Points will be awarded is a swimmers competes in the required number of strokes/distances for his/her age group. Time is not a factor. This is for the swimmer who wishes to broaden his/her swimming experience. Using the FFF Handbook Time Standards (Short Course Yards – SCY), the following standards must be met to earn the 2 points:
8 & Under – Must swim all 6 strokes and distances
9 & 10 – Must swim 10 of the 11 strokes and distances
11 & 12 – Must swim 11 of the 12 strokes and distances
13 & 14 – Must swim 10 of the 14 strokes and distances
15 & Over – Must swim 11 of the 14 strokes and distances.
